Avancis Acquired By CNBM

The Chinese building materials and glass Group CNBM (China National Building Materials Group Corporation), completed the acquisition of AVANCIS, the German manufacturer of CIGS photovoltaic modules, in August 2014. The company announced in September 2013 that is had stopped production at the 100MW for no more than a year. Avancis is a manufacturer of solar panels using CIS thin-film technology. A distinctive feature of CIGS modules is their good performance in low light conditions.

about Avancis

Avancis was launched in 2006 as a 50-50 venture by Shell and Saint Gobain to manufacture thin-film solar panels. A manufacturing plant was opened in 2008 and Saint Gobain assumed full ownership of the company in 2009. According to the Avancis website, the company is constructing a plant in Ochang, South Korea, to be possibly opened during 2013.
