Idaho Solar Rebates

To begin, the federal government offers a 30 percent Federal Energy Tax Credit for the total cost of home solar panel installation. Another incentive for Idaho is an income tax credit up to $20,000 over four years for individuals or businesses that install solar panel systems. Idaho doe snot exempt solar equipment from property or sales tax.

The Green Tag Purchase is an Idaho solar rebate with the Northwest Solar Cooperative (NWSC). NWSC will buy renewable energy certificates known as Green Tags obtained from a grid-connected Idaho solar panel system. Incentive amounts depend on the size of the solar panel system and how much power is generated, but it is between the rates of $0.02 per kWh to $0.10 per kWh.

Idaho solar rebates include net-metering. Net-metering is available to customers of three investor-owned utilities, Avista Utilities, Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power. Through net-metering, you can send power back to the electrical grid and receive credits toward next month's bill. Net-metering is an Idaho solar rebate that will cause your electric meter to run backwards.
